Skagway School is seeking an aide to assist preschool teacher Courtney Mason with the growing class.
“With the 3- and 4-year-olds in the building at the same time three days a week this year, we will have about 30 kids 4 and under and exactly one teacher in that position,” Coughran said.
Board Vice President John Hischer said it is a safety issue more than anything, both for the students and for Mason.
The job would be half-time, starting at 9:30 a.m. and ending at noon each day.
Those interested in the position must have an interest and experience working with children and must have the willingness and ability to accept extra-duty assignments.
A general application and a background check consent form should be submitted to Skagway school no later than September 3 at 4 p.m. Applicants can pick up the forms at the school office or download them from the school website.
