August 10, 1933 – May 26, 2015

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wayne Jolley on Tuesday, May 26, 2015.
Wayne L. Jolley was born to Elmer and Retha Jolley in Pingree, ID on August 10, 1933.  When asked what the L stood for, Wayne always joked that his family was too poor to afford a middle name, so he only got a middle inital.
After growing up in Everett, WA, Wayne joined the Army in 1951.  He served for six years, serving in the Korean War and also spending time in Berlin.  Wayne then returned to the Seattle area, where he worked as a riveter assembling B-52s for Boeing.
In 1962 Wayne came to Alaska “for a few months,” and went on to live the rest of his life in the state.  After a short time in Haines he moved to Skagway, where he met and married Diane Parent in 1965.  He worked for White Pass from the early 60’s until retiring in 1996, starting as a longshoreman and eventually moving onto carman.  Wayne enjoyed camping and fishing, and was also a gifted organist and piano player.
He is survived by his wife Diane, sisters Chris and Velma, sons Ted, Pat (and Jen) and Marcel (and Cathy), and grandsons Ben, Henry, Elliott and Will.
A service is planned for July 3rd at 11 a.m. at the Catholic Church.
