The Alaska Marine Highway System announced the release of its 2015-16 winter schedule.

Skagway will see service four days a week in October, with the M/V Leconte arriving at 1 p.m. on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays, and the M/V Malaspina arriving at 2:45 p.m. on Mondays.

Thursday, Oct. 1 will see service when the M/V Matanuska arrives in Skagway at 1:45 p.m., but Tuesday, Oct. 13 will see no service.

Service remains the same through November and December. Tuesday, Nov. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 15 seeing no service.

January sees a decrease in service with ferries visiting sporadically throughout the month.

The Leconte will visit the first two Sundays of the month, and the Malaspina will visit every Monday.

January 5 will be the only Tuesday to see service with the Leconte arriving at 1 p.m.

With the exception of January 7, the Matanuska will visit Skagway on Thursdays. The Leconte will visit on the Jan. 1, 8, and 22.

The first half of February sees service only two days a week – Mondays and Thursdays from the Malaspina and Matanuska.

Service increases to four days a week during the second half, with the Malaspina visiting on Mondays, the Leconte on Tuesdays, M/V Kennicott on Thursdays and the Leconte on Fridays.

Service will also be available on Feb. 28 and 29.

March will see service every Sunday, with the exception of March 6; every Monday, with the exception of the fourteenth; and every Tuesday, with the exception of the eighth.

The Kennicott will service Skagway on Wednesday, March 2 and Thursday, March 10.

Every Friday in March will see service.

April welcomes ferries every Sunday, Tuesday and Friday, and will also see service on Thursday, April 7, and on all Mondays except April 18.

According to a press release from August 26, AMHS will now require payment at the time of booking and has issued a new revised fee schedule for cancellations or changes.

Cancellations or changes made within 24 hours of booking will result in no fee, but those made within 24 hours of sailing, or a no-show, will result in a 40 percent fee of the reserved space value.
