A budget amendment to provide screen repairs at the wastewater treatment plant was approved by Borough Assembly members on Sept. 3.

The primary screen at the facility has strainer openings that are too large, allowing material to escape, clogging the pipes and aeration units.

A contract has been proposed with the original contractor, Lakeside Equipment, and Hamilton Construction at a total cost of $150,000 to correct the problem.

“We need to have a facility that is working and up to the standards that it’s supposed to be,” Assemblyman Tim Cochran said.
