Borough Assembly members passed the second reading of an ordinance changing language of public lands leases on Sept. 13.

The passage of the ordinance requires that any lease between the municipality and the state worth more than $5 million will have to go to a vote of the public.

“I brought this forward because it never quite sat right with me,” Assemblyman Steve Burnham Jr. said. “I feel that these leases should be given to the vote of the people.”
