Borough Assembly members decided against donating to the 2016 Yukon Quest during a Sept. 17 meeting.

A donation of $3,000 would guarantee that the municipality’s logo would be featured on the Quest’s website, with a direct link to the site.

A donation of $1,000 would only guarantee the logo without a link to the site.

In the past, the municipality has donated between $1,000 and $1,500.

“I don’t really think that if we don’t have a link that it’s worth the cost,” Assemblyman Steve Burnham Jr. said. “I’m not sure that it’s worth the cost to pay for the link either.”

Assemblyman Gary Hanson said in the past they have donated just to be good neighbors and motioned that they continue to do so.

The motion failed, with only Hanson and Assemblyman Tim Cochran voting for it.
