The pay scale for basketball officials was raised from $55 to $75 a game as an incentive to hire locals instead of flying people in.
“I’m not anticipating having to bring any officials in from out of town,” Superintendent Josh Coughran said. “That’s the first time we’ve been able to say that in a long time.”
Though the price per game was lower, adding in the cost of flights, hotels and food cost the school a lot more than an extra $20 per game will.
Coughran said interested locals are already lined up and will be sent to a clinic for training, which the school will pay for.
