Borough assembly members agreed to postpone indefinitely the renewal of three separate leases with the Skagway Terminal Company on June 2.
STC is the division of White Pass that operates the Ore Dock, and has license to use agreements with Alaska Marine Lines, Temsco Helicopters and M&M Tour Sales. Both AML and Temsco have been given two five-year extensions and both expired this month. M&M’s expired in May.
Jaime Bricker, White Pass and Yukon Route railroad’s Director of Contracts and Land Management, spoke to the assembly about the extensions.
“As of right now, the subleases are expired, and I’ve requested review and approval by the assembly,” she said. “But I have yet to see it on the agenda for discussion, only under executive session. I’m concerned with AML and Temsco playing such a vital role in Skagway that we haven’t moved forward with this.”
Assembly members did not comment on the postponement.
