Looking to learn

Hello! My name is Max M. I am a fifth-grade student at Harlan Intermediate School in Harlan, Iowa. My class is studying the geography and history of the United States. I am very excited to learn more about your beautiful state of Alaska.

I would really appreciate it if you would send me pictures, postcards or information on your state.

My wonderful teacher, Mrs. Newlin, would like a car license plate, if possible, for a teacher project. I really appreciate your time and look forward to learning more about your beautiful state of Alaska! Thank you!

Standards-based grading

It seems to me that the superintendent is being overly cautious about implementing standards-based grading (sbg) at the high school level. There is absolutely no reason why subject grades cannot be determined using sbg and then grade point averages, scholarships and college admission can be determined as usual. In fact it is actually at the high school level that it is most important that grades have the accuracy brought by sbg because it is only at the high school level that grades are high stakes.
