The Skagway Fire Department held a car wash on Saturday, May 20, at the Old Fire Hall. The weather was drizzly, but the turnout was good by all accounts. Food was served and donations collected as the firefighters used their fire-dousing skills to wash some dirty vehicles. Typically the car wash raises $1,200 in donations. Despite the day’s rain, there was a long line of cars waiting. The department likes to donate the money raised from the event into the Skagway community.
