Dear Editor and Fine Folks of Skagway,

For more than ten years now, once a week a small group of ladies gathers at the First Presbyterian Church on the corner of Fifth and Main Street, to pray. We pray for each other, for our friends and family, for our community, our country and our world. For safety, and for the needs of those we don’t even know, but know of their plight.  We lift up praises and thanksgiving, as well as requests for intercession and healing. We pray each week for the pregnancies about town, for the mothers and fathers and work that is being done as the new one grows and develops. The book of James tells us, “Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.” We believe in the power of prayer and invite you to be a part of this sacred time.

You are invited to join us.  In person at prayer time (7 a.m. on Fridays), or if you would like prayer, we would be happy to pray for you and yours.

You can call Jan Tronrud (983-9000 home/B&B) Sheryl Dennis (cell 612-0106) or Pattie Maggi, (983-2000 home) or fill out a prayer request card from the table at the back of the church.  In thanks and praise, together we say, Lord, hear our prayers.

Yours truly, Jan, Sheryl, Pattie and Lisa • Skagway
