Princess Cruises has confirmed in a statement that a domestic dispute took place onboard the Emerald Princess in the evening of Tuesday, July 25, an incident resulting in the death of a 39-year-old female passenger from Utah.
Princess’ fleet security team has been coordinating with the FBI and other local authorities, according to the statement. At press time, authorities had planned to embark the Emerald Princess when it reached in Juneau. The Emerald Princess is on a 7-day cruise that had left Seattle on July 23.
The Emerald Princess had been in Skagway’s port as recently as July 20. The 3,092-passenger cruise ship had held an official inaugural call ceremony at the municipality on June 1.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and all those impacted by this tragic event,” the statement reads.
