Twig Furniture Workshop: Harvey Van Patten is a master at the art of rustic furniture making. He is known throughout Alaska and the Yukon for his enthusiastic approach to teaching. Participants last year made a bench, a chair or a table – and one even did a wedding arch! There will be some tools available, but having your own clippers, hammer, small saw and gloves would be helpful. All materials will be provided.  Two days are allotted for this workshop, but only the first one is required. The workshop is Oct. 28-29, $80 per person. Saturday will be an introduction to twig furniture making, design, preparing materials and beginning construction.

Participants can then finish their projects at home or come back on Sunday for more hands-on finishing with advice from the instructor. To reserve a space, email skagwayartscouncil@gmail.com or call (907) 983-3222.
