Aurora with extra cheese

A man looking at a picture of the aurora borealis commented, “There’s a restaurant called the Northern Lights, so maybe we’ll be able to see them while we’re here.”

Thick and thin

A former Skagway wind watcher who now resides in Florida emailed that she got into a discussion with a person who was thinking of going to Alaska.

“Can I go to Alaska if I’m taking blood thinners?” he asked.

The windward one assured him it was OK.

Rock and roll

Someone came up to a railroad official and asked if the rail cars carrying ballast for the railbed were hauling rocks from the slide by the dock.

We have one more shot at making this a memorable windy season. Send your wind to alaskan@skagwaynews.com, or drop off at the News Depot on Broadway and we will enter you in our final monthly drawing for both volumes of Best of the Skagway Police Blotter, Vols 1 and 2, featuring the best of “Heard on the Wind.”
