The Skagway Child Care Council and Little Dippers Learning Center would like to extend an enormous thank-you to everyone who sustained our fundraising efforts this year.

Operating as a nonprofit facility, we predominantly rely on two main fundraisers — Annual Wine Tasting with Live/Silent Auction and the 50/50 Raffle — to cover a portion of our operating costs.

These were successful yet again! Our many thanks go out to all individuals and businesses in this big-hearted community who have ever attended our burger feeds, purchased a raffle ticket, donated a needed item to the Center, attended, ate, drank and spent money on the fabulous contributions at the wine tasting (which these donations enable us to continue our tradition).

Also a big thanks to the fire department for loaning us tents (and they were well used!), to Carol Bourcy for wine vendor transportation and sales coordination, Justin Henry for pouring, Mike Swasey for being a killer Emcee/DJ, to Stuart Brown/SMART bus for providing safe transportation not just to the wine tasting but to/from the center for kiddo activities and school on a regular basis!

Lastly, a special note of gratitude to the late Charlotte Jewell and her wonderful staff at Jewell Gardens.  Charlotte has graciously hosted this event since we outgrew the Bombay Room at the Red Onion long ago.  An evening in the gardens enjoying wine, friends and nature’s bounty is hard to beat. This is the first time we have moved the event from early June to late July and the changes in the garden were remarkable to say the least. Thank you Charlotte for bringing such beauty into this world and inviting those to share in it as well. As they say, “it takes a village” or in Skagway, “it takes a valley.” We are truly humbled by Skagway’s big heart.

Sincerely,

Skagway Child Care Council
