Skagway’s Lady Panthers couldn’t make the cut for the state championship during the Region 2A volleyball tournament in Wrangell on Nov. 18-20.

Skagway lost both its matches in the double-elimination competition.

The high school Lady Panthers lost to Klawock in the first game and then lost to Haines in the second matchup, ending their season.

Klawock went on to lose its next game against Wrangell but rose through the loser’s bracket to face Craig in the championship match, where Craig won the Southeast tourney 25-21, 25-13 and 27-25.

As the top two teams in Southeast, both Craig and Klawock will go to the 2A state championship in Anchorage on Dec. 5-7.
