Skagwegians are on notice that the police department will begin issuing citations and fines for illegally parked vehicles. Warnings will start in August and citations will commence in September.
“Let’s try to clean up our streets a little bit,” said Police Chief Jerry Reddick, citing “obstruction of vision” and abandoned cars.
Automobiles cannot be parked on the road for longer than 30 days without being moved. Trailer, boats and RVs are allowed 24 hours. All vehicles require current registration and should be in working order.
Individuals who need waivers because they require extended time to load an RV or are waiting for parts for a broken down car can apply for a permit at the police station.
“We can give you some leeway,” Reddick said.
