The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHHS) reported to the Ketchikan Emergency Operations Center (EOC) that an individual with a history of travel to the Lower 48 has tested positive for COVID-19. The person self-isolated and sought help from a Ketchikan clinic for testing.

The individual is an employee of the Ketchikan Gateway Borough and the borough is closing offices until further notice for commercial cleaning to disinfect the building. Borough employees who have been in direct contact with the employee will be self-isolating for 14 days.

This is the fourth case of COVID-19 reported in Alaska.
