Registration for the 27th annual Kluane Chilkat International Bike Relay opens at 12:01 a.m. Monday, March 16, and organizers said they expect the 1,200 rider slots “will fill quickly again this year.”

The event is set for June 20, over the 148.1-mile (238-kilometer) course from Haines Junction in the Yukon Territory to Haines.

There are solo-rider and team categories for men, women and mixed teams, with two, four or eight riders per team.

“This international event has filled up in just a few days over the past few years,” the organizers said. “Along with the 1,200-rider cap, there is a limit of 95 teams in the eight-person category.”

Solo riders have until April 10 to register.

Rules, start times and other logistical information for the event are posted at www.kcibr.org.

The deadline for participants who want to purchase a souvenir T-shirt is April 10.
