Argument leads to arrest of ship’s passenger

Getting locked out of his room on the Emerald Princess cruise ship led to a 69-year-old Australian man getting locked up in Skagway.
According to records from the Skagway Police Department, Gregory Harwood, of Queensland, Australia, was arrested for Assault in the Fourth Degree stemming from an argument with his girlfriend after he was accidentally locked of out the room they shared. Upon gaining entrance to the room, Harwood reportedly grabbed the woman by the neck and pinned her against the wall. During the altercation, the woman’s glasses were knocked off, causing a wound to her facial area.
Skagway law enforcement officers were summoned to the ship on the morning of May 21. Upon arriving, the ship’s  security staff said the two had become involved in a domestic dispute around midnight, prior to the ship entering the Port of Skagway.
The victim, Linda Moran said Harwood became irate when she accidentally locked him out of their room. 
Harwood, who was taken into custody by the ship security force, admitted to having an altercation and argument with the Moran but claimed it was self-defense. 
Harwood and Moran were reportedly in a relationship for the past five years, and lived together in Australia.
