UPDATE June 21 from MOS

Skagway, Alaska, June 21, 2021 A positive COVID-19 case was identified in Skagway on Sunday, June 20th. The Dahl Memorial Clinic is currently conducting contact tracing and is requesting individuals contact them at 983-2255 if:

  • you or someone in your household (including children) attended the Solstice event on June 19 between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., and
  • you are unvaccinated, and
  • you had prolonged exposure with children outside of your household, and
  • you have not already been contacted by the Clinic.

If you are fully vaccinated, you are not considered a close contact.

5 p.m., June 20, 2021

Skagway, Alaska, June 20, 2021 A positive COVID-19 case has been identified in Skagway. The positive case is a child under the age of 12, the current age of vaccination eligibility in Alaska, and is related to recent travel. There is concern for community spread as the positive individual attended the Summer Solstice event at Dedman Stage on Saturday, June 19.

If you or your children attended the Solstice event between the hours of 5 p.m. and 10 p.m., and you are unvaccinated, and had prolonged exposure with children outside of your household, you should quarantine at home and monitor for COVID-19 symptoms.

Individuals should contact the on-duty provider at Dahl Memorial clinic at 907-983-2025 immediately if they develop cold or flu symptoms, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chest pressure or tightness, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache or loss of taste or smell.

The Municipality of Skagway will issue another press release before 9 p.m. tonight to provide more information.
