The Skagway Public Library won first place in the 2022 Alaska Library Association Conference Photo Contest and will be featured in an Alaskan library-of-the-month calendar. Nearly 110 photos were submitted and then voted on by conference attendees from across Alaska and several other states. This photo of the children’s room window won the most votes; a second photo celebrating Skagway Library’s centennial will also be included in the calendar.
The children’s window display features seasonal birch trees and birds created by library assistant, Anna Nelson. The type of bird changes based on the seasons, as does the foliage on the birch tree.
