It’s my understanding that it has already been decided that citizen correspondence to the mayor and assembly is now uniformly no longer included in the assembly packet for the public to read.
I strongly disagree with this action.
I can understand there may have been confusion with submitters in the past about what would be published and what would not, and I can also understand how this could cause a great deal of consternation for all involved. HOWEVER, rather than taking the easy road of just not publishing anything, let’s make the experience and expectations of submitted correspondence more clear for everyone.
Reading about other people’s knowledge and opinions of the important matters before you helps me as a citizen understand my neighbor’s perspective – and gives me a more in-depth and nuanced understanding of your decisions and process. Please don’t take away this thoughtful and considered information sharing space and leave me with just Facebook.
