Registration is open for the 2020 Duff’s Skagway Marathon and Half Marathon, scheduled for June 13 — with some changes in the annual event.
The start/finish line is moving to Seven Pastures, just past the Skagway River bridge. “Due to these changes, we will not be a Boston Marathon qualifier for the 2020 race. We expect to be a qualifier again in the future after we have received feedback about the new route from racers,” Duff’s organizers said.
“The race has seen substantial growth every year and we expect to see over 200 registrants for this year’s event,” the organizers said. “With our new start/finish location, we expect a more festive atmosphere as Seven Pastures has facilities to handle larger crowds.”

The Duff’s Skagway Marathon and Half-Marathon started in 2011 as a partnership between Skagway Convention & Visitor Bureau and Duff’s Backcountry Outfitters.
The 2020 race will continue with three categories: a full marathon, a running half marathon and a walking half marathon.
Registration is $45 online only and open through June 9. Late registration is $55 and is in person only from 4 to 7 p.m. June 12 at the AB Hall.
Online registrants will have an option to donate $5 toward a new timing system for the event. “A modern timing system will enable instant and accurate timing results and require less volunteers to track timing,” organizers said.
Bib packet pickup will be 4 to 7 p.m. June 12 at the AB Hall. “There is no race day bib pickup and we do not mail bibs. Racers who have not picked up their bib at bib pickup June 12 will be considered a no-show.”
Volunteers are needed for the event and will receive a race shirt and free lunch. To volunteer, email Skagway.marathon@gmail.com. To ask about helping to sponsor the event, send an email or call Cody Jennings at 983-2854.
